In 1975 Nazareth released its album Hair of the Dog., This was actually its sixth album, but contained a remake of the song Love Hurts, which got the band its first real attention in the US. The song was the band’s only US top ten hit. However, the title track of that album has been a rock standard ever since.
The band was formed in 1968 by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. The band released its first album in 1970 and followed up with a little more than an album a year until its release of Hair of the Dog. The 70s was the best decade for Nazareth, although they continued on for many more years.
