Rolling Stones
The 70’s probably wasn’t the best decade for the Rolling Stones (especially when they flirted with disco in the mid-to-late 70’s), but a website about the 70’s, and rock music in general, would not be complete without a Stones page. Besides, even though the 70’s may not have been their best decade, they did still manage to put together a few (quite a few actually) hits during the 70’s. A few notable songs, are Wild Horses, Brown Sugar, Angie, Heatbreaker, Beast of Burden, Tumblin’ Dice, to name a few.
The story goes that the Stones entered the 70’s virtually broke. How could that happen to a band that was so successful throughout the 60’s, rivaling the Beatles in popularity. Most of it was apparently due to bad management, but one would guess there were a few excesses along the way as well. For example, they used to go to the studio, all get high and Keith Richards would go off and work on guitar riffs until he had the start of a new song.
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ron Wood are the remaining members of the Rolling Stones. Bill Wyman left the band in 1993 and Charlie Watts has passed away. Their concerts in recent years have been major theatrical productions.
